I had vouchers to spend at Borders so I bought a book/DVD set of four 15min workouts. Thought it would be useful for toning etc because all I've been doing is cardio. So, it suggested testing my fitness with 3 tests:
- Wall squat - hold for as long as possible. I scored 10 seconds which is rated as poor.
- Half push-ups - do as many as you can. I scored 10 which is also rated as poor.
- Crunches - do as many as you can. I scored 20 which is rated as poor-fair.
Went to dinner at a friend's house tonight. They had bought Diet Ginger Beer for me, then served 2 yummy salads and grilled chicken. They left the feta off the salad for my sake too! How great was that? She really understands how hard this is and said, "We wanted the dinner to be relaxing for you - and we wanted to be sure we weren't sabotaging all your wonderful efforts." She and her husband had planned this together. Gotta love them!!!

I had tears in my eyes reading your words Deb! You have decided that you DESERVE a better life and you now have the tools to ensure that you WILL have this BEST life!

What wonderful friends you have! I had a friend who did that for me at the beginning of my journey. Actually went on line and got recipes and told me the points when she dished them up. It was so thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for many strange reasons, not such good friends anymore and the last time we had lunch (a picnic the other day actually) it was just the basic not so healthy stuff. I am wondering if someone feels a little threatened/jealous to have the "skinny girl" in the group title under threat! LOL. She can hold onto it for a few more months! :)
And at least now you have a start for your exercises...you can set your short term goals of how many crunches, push ups and secs for the plank you will be able to do, as well as the long term.
I mainly focus on cardio too, anything involving arms I am terrible at! But I still set my goals!
