Andrea got me thinking today with her post about "10 things I hate about being fat."
Here's my list from the days before I lost any weight:
1. Worrying about trying new hairdressers, restaurants etc because their chairs might have sides on them, and I won't fit
2. Mirrors
3. Trying to feel pretty when going out. I take care with clothes and make-up, but I'm still FAT!!
4. There is only one shop here in Singapore that stocks plus-size clothing, and I don't like most of their clothes.
5. Avoiding walks with other people cos they'll see how I huff and puff
6. Comments from people
7. Feeling sorry for the person who has to sit next to me on planes, buses etc. Last year, a man asked to move seats so he didn't have to be by me
8. Waking up each morning wishing I would do something about my weight, but knowing I won't, and hating myself for it
9. Self-loathing
10. Struggling to wipe my own bum
Wow! This was hard to write, but also gratifying because many of them no longer apply since I've lost 27kg.

I love that you have done this. Off to read Andrea's now. And to think about my own.

Hey Deb,
ReplyDeleteI love your honesty, its so refreshing. Lists like these are great for reminding yourself how far you have come, and why you don't want to go back there.
How about now doing a new list of "10 things that make me proud of my body". You could cover how far you've come with exercise, how much your mindset has shifted, how your body had changed as its got smaller etc
You're a rockstar as always
Hope xx
Deb, loved that you made this post. I will have to read Andrea's as well. It is such a good reminder of why we are making these changes. I bet so many of us can relate to at lest a few of your reasons if not all of them. YOu have done an amazing job losing the weight that you have and I am so glad that you dont have to feel like you were feeling before. xo
ReplyDeleteHello there! New follower =) I can totally relate to your list. especially #8. But we are finally doing something about it!
