This blogging thing is so cool. I'm fairly new to it, but hooked. I'm really thankful for the advice given to me yesterday re giddiness.
I tried the gatorade, but didn't like it. I'm a plain water girl. I still got dizzy yesterday, even though I ate prunes before exercising. I came back home, rested, showered etc but still got dizzy whenever I stood up for the next half hour or so.
I'll try eating banana and yoghurt an hour before the gym today and see how that goes.
I don't know where this new love of exercising comes from, but I hope it stays. None of this puts me off.
This Friday school is finished and we have nine (yes 9!!!) weeks of holidays. It's ridiculous. I hate being off work for that long. The kids forget too much. We spend too much. The Americans go home to summer cottages, but we go home to winter in NZ and I absolutely FREEZE because I've been living in the tropics for so long.
Well not this year. Nope. No way. Not going home to freeze. We're staying here and teaching a Summer School program for 3 weeks. It's just a fun program for kids - not academic. And it's only from 9am-1pm daily. We get well paid for it. Then we're paying for our daughters to come here to us for their 2 week uni break (a crafty way for me to avoid winter!!).
But you know what pleases me most of all? (I can't believe I'm saying this!!)
- I get to stay here so I can use the gym and/or pool each day.
- I get to be in charge of my meals.
- I can still lose weight while on holiday!
One more ramble here (it's my blog so I'll write what I want to!) Today I was talking to a friend who I have taught with for 8 years. When she was mid-sentence she suddenly stopped and said, "Deb, I'm having trouble just talking to you. I keep thinking about how different you look. It's hard to believe how much you've changed!" That earned her a hug. Made my morning that much nicer!
Bye Friends and Followers! ((HUGS)) for you too

Hey Deb,
ReplyDeleteLet us know how the banana + yoghurt thing goes! I hope the "dizziness after exercise" thing goes away soon... if it hangs about, it might be worth seeng the doctor?!
Your summer hols sound fab! I hope you keep the momentum up because you sound like you're in a really good place at the minute :)
Cheers
Kase :)
What a delicious and positive post!

ReplyDeleteHey Deb,
ReplyDeleteThat comment from your friend is so lovely! Its so nice when people notice and say such wonderful things - certainly puts a spring in my step!!
I occasionally get the dizzy after exercise thing, its usually when the tank is running a bit low so I now try and have something like organic peanut butter on small slice of vogels about an hour beforehand, certainly helps me out! It wouldn't be blood pressure related would it? I think low or high BP can make you dizzy?
Anyways, good luck with it, and with you 9 weeks of holiday!! Holy moly!!
Hope x
9 weeks of holiday! The kids over in Oz only have 2 (but then 9 weeks over Christmas). How many weeks do the kids get there for Christmas?
ReplyDeleteWow Deb!
ReplyDeleteListen to you raving about your exercise and meal control! Who would have thought a few months ago that such things would be so important to you!
NINE weeks holiday break? Gosh, like America I guess but my understanding is that the change grades when they go back after their "summer break"!
Anyway, the 3 weeks of paid work will come in handy I'm sure!
Keep up the great work! Gae oxoxo
