Be careful what you wish for...

Today was great. I'm less nervous about driving today. I'm so relieved that nobody got hurt. People have be so kind to me, but really, it was just a rub against another car, rather than a crash. Unsettling though!
A funny story....
I worked very very hard to lose enough weight to be able to fit into some white pants I bought about 10 years ago.
Two months ago, I could not do up the zip.
One month ago, I began wearing them.
Today, I'm hitching them up cos they're a bit loose.
I was feeling all buzzy today cos I lost 1 kilo (16.5 total) but  when I sat down to start reading to my class I heard a little rip noise. Sure enough, my pants had split a little. Thought I'd get away with it but as the day went on it ripped further and further.  Thank goodness my shirt was quite long, but it was not going to hide a big wide flap in the back!! So, I had to put on my 'fat pants'  that I keep at work, for wearing on Weigh In days. They look hilarious - had to put a ribbon through the belt loops to keep them up!
The thing that surprised me was that instead of thinking, "Well you fat old cow, you are straining your clothes..." I just laughed and told people that losing 1kg today was no guarantee that my pants would hold together. I would have been mortified a couple of months ago, but today I just blamed the very old fabric for ripping too easily.
I'm staying at school till 9pm tonight. My Grade 1 class is part of the Starlight Ball - the music teachers have taught the kids how to Cha-Cha, Tango, Waltz etc. The boys must invite their partners to dance. It's so gorgeous. The kids will arrive at 6.30 in best dresses/clothes. A couple of boys said their mothers have bought them tuxedoes!! (It's a wealthy community...) I'll be dancing the night away with my seven year olds.
Happy weekend!!

  1. Hi Deb,

Glad to hear you're feeling okay after your scare in the car recently! And good on you for having a sense of humour about the pant debacle ;)

I am beginning to have a similar problem - was wearing a favourite pair of jeans today and I realised I can easily pull them on and off without undoing the fly or unbuttoning them. They seemed to get looser and looser as the day went on! It all came to a head when I was walking up the stairs in our house - was loaded up with ironing, so had no hands free, and my pants slowly fell off as I walked upstairs! My boyfriend was coming up the stairs behind me and he just could not stop laughing - how embarassing! Note to self - buy belt soon!

Hope you enjoy your night - it sounds like it will be absolutely adorable. What a hoot!

Have a good weekend :) xo

  2. Oh, such a good feeling. I have one pair of "fat jeans". I pull them on occasionally. And they slide right on down.......
