So many reasons to be happy this Easter:
- Emily arrived on Saturday night. It's so good to have her home again. Poor kid is 19 and hasn't been home for one year. It's not easy having parents who work overseas - but she does very well looking after herself in NZ. I miss both my daughters very much. We took our friend's young daughter to the airport to meet her beloved "Emimy" as well
- I didn't lose the plot with Easter food. I made 52 Hot Cross Buns on Sunday morning and had 19 people here for buns, Easter eggs, bubbly and coffee. I ate 2 buns altogether, without butter. No bubbly. Lots of coffee. 1/2 of a small choc egg - I threw it out when halfway through it, remembering what my friend said, "I don't need to eat this - I already know what it tastes like."
- While the buns were rising I took Emily down to our gym and did Week 3 C25K on the crosstrainer. She was amazed that I was a) going to the gym, b) able to use the crosstrainer for 30 mins.
- I kneaded the dough for the buns for 12 mins without getting puffed. In the past I've always asked my husband to do it as well. This year I realized that I was stronger and fitter and didn't need to stop or get help.
- Emily has spent the last 2 days exclaiming about all the changes she can see in me. My favourite lines from her are "Where have you gone woman??" and "Your tummy doesn't spill over your undies any more!"
Onwards and downwards....
Deb

That's awesome Deb, you have done so well over Easter. You sound like you have a wonderful relationship with your daughter, I hope my kids and I get along that well when they are older.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have your daughter with you over Easter!
ReplyDeleteI have sons only so don't receive "personal" remarks from them though my eldest did say the other day "Have you lost some weight Mum?". Yep - almost 25 kilos!
You're doing so well - fancy being a gym junkie - who would have thought!
Best wishes - Gae oxoxo
Deb, your post almost brought tears to my eyes. I'm so glad my daughters ( aged 5 and 9) are coming home today. I've missed them so much. I hope that I have the same kind of relationship with them as you do with Emily. Parenting advice very welcome!
ReplyDeleteKeep going!
